Rules & Regulations 2009
GAME FORMAT
(High School rules will apply except for the differences listed below.)
- Game Timing: Two 16-minute halves with a stop clock. The last two-minutes of each half, the clock shall stop on all dead ball situations. Only the tournament director has the option of changing the time for warm up and half time to get games caught up. If there is more than a twenty-five point spread in a game both coaches must agree to waive the stop clock during the last two minutes. Overtime: There will be a 2-minute overtime in all games ending in a tie, with each team receiving one time out for the overtime (Teams may not carry-over any timeouts). The clock will stop for all dead ball situations during overtime. Again, teams will be awarded one time out with no carry-overs.
- Fouls: Each player is allowed 5, shooting one and one on the 7th team foul, double bonus (two shots) on the 10th team foul. Technical Fouls/Intentional Fouls/Flagrant Fouls: will be shot. A second technical foul by the same individual and that individual is removed from the game.
- Time-Outs: Each team has 1 full and two 30-second time-outs per half, with no carry-overs. Overtime Time Outs: Each team is given one time out for every overtime, no carry-overs.
- Restrictions: All defenses and offenses are allowed. However, coaches need to pull their full court or half court press if you are ahead by 20 points or more. All trapping defenses are considered a press, either half court or full court.
- Timekeepers and Scorekeepers: Each team will be required to provide one per game. Home team keeps the official book – at the designated location, and the visiting team operates the clock/scoreboard. Please plan ahead as children are not encouraged to handle either of these responsibilities.
- Game Ball: The home team provides the game ball. Boy’s 9u thru 11u age division uses the 28.5 ball.
ADMISSION POLICY
(Spectator Admission fees will be charged at all TTS events and Nationals.
- Admission Fees at Door: Spectators will be charged a fee before entering a facility. The coach, assistant coach listed on the roster, all players listed on the roster, plus one scorekeeper/ timekeeper will receive free admission. Everyone will receive an I.D. bracelet/ankle band or mark, as proof of payment and this identification must be shown before entering a facility.
- GAME EQUIPMENT
- Required Equipment: Coaches will need to bring their own practice balls, scorebook, first aid kit, and towels to all games.
- Uniforms: Similar jersey tops or Tee Shirts with a minimum of a 6-inch number on the back. Reversible jerseys are preferred and each team should be prepared to play with light or dark uniforms. Matching shorts are not required, but encouraged.
- Coaches Packet: Coaches are encouraged to keep an envelope with a copy of each players’ birth certificate,player’s name and current ‘08/’09 age, and have all signatures on the TTS waiver form called the “Permission to Treat”. While this is not mandatory at the TTS local event ( it is mandatory at the National Tournament) and teams may be disqualified if they are unable to provide any of this information.
AGE DIVISION & SKILL LEVEL
- Age Divisions: Players’ age are based on the ‘08/’09 school year (same age requirements as AAU} Coaches’ can choose to play up age divisions during TTS local events and play in their correct age divisions at Nationals. At TTS local events the Boy's 9u--10u may be combined. Boy's 11u age division may be combined with Boy’s 12u age division.Boy’s 13u age division and the Boy’s 14u age division may be combined.Boy’s 15u age division may be combined into a High School division.We will always try to keep age groups separate and at the very least a Championship game in own age group. Also, at TTS local events Girls individual divisions may be grouped to form combined divisions. Girls are allowed to play on boys' teams.
ELIGIBILITY, ROSTER/WAIVER, PROTESTS/GRIEVANCES
- Age/Grade: TTS is a age-based organization; Players’ are allowed to play up age divisions, but not play down a age division.
- Playing on More Than One TTS Team: Players’ may participate on more than one TTS team, even if both teams’ are playing in the same TTS local or Regional. However, at all TTS National Tournament, players’ must choose one roster and play for only one team during the tournament.
- Team Roster: Team rosters must be completed by start of first game. The team roster may change up to the first game of each TTS event and up to Nationals. Coaches/Assistant Coaches/Parent Contacts must manage their roster . Coaches’ are responsible to update their rosters before playing in the TTS National. Number of Players on Team Roster: Your team must have a minimum of 5 players but no more than fifteen.
- Protests: Protest require a $50 bond that is refundable if your protest is upheld.The protested game will be played and the 2 head coaches and tournament director will settle protest together.ONLY THOSE 3 PEOPLE.Tournament directors decision is final.
TTS CODE OF ETHICS & BEHAVIOR
- Coaches, parents and fans are expected to create a team environment in which primary emphasis is placed upon the emotional and physical well-being and skill improvement of the players, rather than winning. Coaches, parents and fans should lead by example and demonstrate the value of fair play and sportsmanship to all participants.
- Poor Behavior: Poor behavior by teams, players, parents, coaches and spectators will result in the team, coach, or player being disqualified from the remaining portion of the TTS Local/National, without a refund or recourse.
TTS REFUND POLICY
- When a team cancels from the entire tournament, prior to playing in the event and prior to the 14-day window before the event, they will be entitled to a full refund.
- When a team cancels an event 8 to 13 days before a scheduled event they may either recieve a full refund minus a $50 processing fee or enter a alternate TTS event with no extra charge.If a team drops out 4-7 days before a scheduled event they will recieve a full refund minus a $100 processing fee.If a team drops out within 72 hours of a scheduled event there will be no refund.
- All entry fees for National event are final.
TTS TOURNAMENT FORMAT
All tournaments are 3 game guarantees unless otherwise noted.Nationals is a 5 game guarantee.All teams play 2 pool play games that seed you into a single elimination tournament.The director will give you your game time for your single elimination game onsite based on pool results.Coaches must make sure the director has a contact person on site or a good phone number to give you your game time. Please realize gametimes for single elimination cannot be given until all games in your age division are played.
Please note in this format it is possible depending on results that you could possibly play a team you have already played in pool play in the single elimination round.All directors decisions regarding seedings are final.
